Labor will, eventually, join battle for Indi

LABOR has quashed rumors it won’t contest the seat of Indi in the upcoming federal election.
Branch president, Zuvele Leschen, confirmed Labor would contest the seat when contacted by the Wangaratta Chronicle yesterday.
It comes after rumors the party would give the September election a miss and instead back Voice 4 Indi candidate, Cathy McGowan.
“Labor always contests all seats,” Mrs Leschen said.
“Even when there’s been independent candidates in the past who we’ve supported, we’ve had our own candidate.
“We’ve got someone prepared to step up at a later date, but they have a few commitments at the moment.”
Earlier this week Labor announced Wodonga school teacher, Gavin Hickey, would contest the seat of Farrer.
