They were too good

OVENS and King coach Finton Eames has labelled Central Highlands “easily a top 15 country league” after the Ballarat-based competition handed his side a whopping 109-point defeat on Saturday.

The O&K side travelled down to Buninyong on Friday afternoon confident of putting up a strong fight, however, it was evident from the start that Central Highlands would take some beating.

Eames’ side managed just two goals to half time and trailed by 33 points but things got worse after half time as Central Highlands kicked 13 goals to one.

The final score of 20.16 (136) to 3.9 (27) was great viewing for the Ovens and King, however, Eames said there was very little his players could do.

“They were far too good,” Eames said.

“I reckon they are a top 10 side, easily a top 15 country league.

“To be within five goals at half time we were still in but they just ran away with after that.

“I reckon their average height would have been six-foot and they could all move.”
