“THERE’S never a dull moment around here,” enthused Thelma Halloway, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 29.

The Wangaratta resident of 30 years attributes a happy and healthy lifestyle to her longevity.

“I played a terrible lot of sport when I was younger, especially tennis,” she said.

“Every second house in the street had a tennis court, and we used to play a lot of night tennis.

“Us girls (in the family) played golf too, I did that until I was 24 when I gave it up.”

Family and friends have also always been a big part of Thelma’s life, with many types of card games, as well as her strong involvement in Saturday night dances and her local church groups taking up much of her time.
