WANGARATTA City faces its biggest test of the Albury/Wodonga Football Association season on Sunday when it faces top side, and arch rival, Myrtleford at Savoy Park.
The Red Devils are coming off a 3-0 victory over St Patrick’s last round and are sitting fifth on the ladder while the Savoys have lost just once this year.
However, Red Devils co-coach Mario Antonello said ladder positions meant little, describing the rivalry as massive.
“It’s pretty big,” he said.
“We play for the La Fiera Cup now but the rivalry between the two sides goes back a long way.
“I can remember watching these games when I was three or four years old.
“It doesn’t matter where the two teams are on the ladder – the matches are always tight with the exception of last season.”
