WANGARATTA youngster Josh Porter’s dream season has continued after last night being named in the Ovens and Murray interleague side to play Mornington at Visy Park tomorrow.

Porter has been named in the Magpies’ best players in all but one match this season and has managed nine goals playing mainly as a lead-up centre half forward.

The quietly spoken 19-year-old was a surprise selection in the initial squad but his form, aerobic capacity and ability to take contested marks have made him a more than worthy inclusion.

Porter will be joined in the side by fellow Wangaratta teammate Judd Porter as well as Wangaratta Rovers duo Jamie Sheahan and Tyson Hartwig.

Ovens and Murray coach Matt Pendergast indicated Porter was likely to be used across half forward, with North Albury spearhead Adam Prior to play full forward.

In his first full season in senior ranks, Porter said he was surprised to make the team but was looking forward to tackling Mornington’s best.
