A PREMIERSHIP is special at any time, however, when a club wins three titles in the same day that is cause for massive celebration.
So that’s exactly what the Wangaratta Golf Club did when its three pennant sides won North East District Golf Association grand finals at Jubilee on Sunday afternoon.
The club’s division two scratch side, headed by in-form duo Allen Bastin and John Southwell, proved far too strong for Wodonga, winning all five matches in a one-sided affair.
The two handicap sides also produced their best on the biggest stage with the section one side accounting for Tarrawingee while the section three team got the job done against Rutherglen.
“It’s fantastic for the club,” Bastin said.
“We are re-building – I think the last men’s pennant we won was back in 2005.
“It’s great to get three in one day.”
