Marginal hope for The Greens

NEITHER The Greens nor Labor can unseat Sophie Mirabella (MHR, Indi) at the September election.

That’s the opinion of Greens candidate, Jenny O’Connor, who won almost 10 per cent of the vote at the last federal election.

The Beechworth mother of three, who was recently elected to Indigo Shire Council, said she would be doing everything possible to make Indi a marginal seat, but that she didn’t believe she or a yet to be announced Labor candidate, could win.

“I can’t win this election,” she said.

“It is such a safe conservative seat.

“But I can continue to increase the vote for The Greens.

“My hope is that eventually The Greens and the independents will make this a marginal seat.”
