Star Lion out

But Eames confident he can cover the absence of spearhead

WHOROULY star Richie Leahy won’t be in the Ovens and King line-up for to play Central Highlands on Saturday.

OVENS and King selectors will officially announce the side to play Central Highlands on Saturday at training tonight, however, Whorouly star Richie Leahy won’t be in the line-up.

While hopes remained high as early as this week that Leahy would suit up for the O&K at Buninyong, the fact he missed his second straight game with a knee injury last Saturday, forced him to pull the pin.

An avid supporter of representative football, Leahy was disappointed to miss, however, coach Finton Eames said there were plenty of players ready to take his place.

Eames is also giving Milawa star Ryan Hussey until tonight’s final training session to prove his fitness for the clash.

“The good thing this year is that we have plenty of cover for him (Leahy),” he said.

“We’ve got blokes like Richard Findlay, Matt Smith, Brent Newton and Phil O’Keeffe so there is plenty of firepower down there.

“Rich was pretty disappointed he couldn’t play.

“But clubs are more important than interleague matches when you are injured.”
