Attention to detail transferred from coffee to art

A BLANK canvas in the form of a brick wall in the al fresco area of a Wangaratta café, has been brought to life by a young artist with an eye for design.

Renee Moxham designed the image after staff at the café noticed the bare space was in need of something, and Indulge On Victoria café owner Glenene Twitchett turned to her star barista for advice.

“Glenene asked what I thought and suggested I come up with a design, and she’d supply the materials for me to do it,” said Renee, who spent her spare time over a few months working on the project.

Inspired by the tropical feel of the outdoor space and its green décor, she came up with the idea of a rainforest, adding some additional features for color using oil pastels and artists’ turpentine.

It came naturally to the young woman who grew up in Wangaratta and went to Yarrunga and Wangaratta West primary schools, before life took her in another direction.

Now Renee is back in town and while she has completed a hospitality traineeship, the urge to create art has been a constant in her life.
