THREE acting directors will support Rural City of Wangaratta councillors at their next meeting on Tuesday, in the absence of senior staff on leave.

Acting staff will fill in for director community wellbeing Ruth Tai and director sustainability Ray Park, who are both on sick leave, and director infrastructure Andrew Close, who remains at work.

At Tuesday’s meeting at Whorouly, Peter Godfrey will be acting director infrastructure, Patti Wenn will be acting director community wellbeing, and Peter Mangan will be acting director sustainability.

Chief executive officer Doug Sharp is currently on two weeks’ leave, and though his usual presence at council meetings will not be covered, his non-statutory operational duties at the rural city are being undertaken by Mr Close while he is away.

Municipal inspector Peter Stephenson will also attend the council meeting as part of his ongoing observations of the council’s operations, though he will not take an active role.

Meanwhile, the Australian Services Union (ASU) is still awaiting a response from Local Government Minister Jeanette Powell regarding its request for a meeting to discuss whether the minister can suspend an individual councillor.
