The National Broadband Network (NBN) has announced its planned fibre footprint for Victoria up until June 2016, with Chiltern and Beechworth the only new North East additions.

NBN Co’s community relations manager for Victoria, Lalla Mackenzie, was unable to tell the Wangaratta Chronicle this week when the city could expect to be connected, post June 2016.

“It’s like a giant mechano set and it depends on many factors, including greatest need, ease of access and existing infrastructure,” she said.

“The entire rollout for high-speed broadband is scheduled to be complete in 2021.”

Rural City of Wangaratta executive manager of economic development, Graham Nickless, said it was ‘frustrating’ the city had again been overlooked.
