AN adult shop which faced years of opposition before finally opening in Wangaratta 18 months ago will close its doors for good by the end of this week.

Erotique Desirs owner Craig Patrick said a “gradual decline” in sales since the shop’s December, 2011 opening had forced his hand.

And like other local business owners who have announced imminent closures in recent months, he said online sales had impacted the store.

The idea was based on feedback from customers visiting his Big Boys Shed, then operating in Tone Road, who were seeking an adult section.

The initial application for a shop in Tone Road raised concerns from council about its proximity to residential areas, and led to a Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) hearing.
