Shooters on target at states

TOP HONOR: Josh Maher with the Syme Badge and prizes he won at the recent Victorian State Queens Series.

THE Victorian State Queens Series was conducted recently, with several members of the Wangaratta Rifle Club successful over the five days of the competition.

The shoot was held at the Victorian State Range at Bendigo and competitors from all over Australia and New Zealand were in attendance.

The five days of competition were divided into the two-day Syme Aggregate, the three-day Queens Series and the five-day Grand Aggregate.

Josh Maher, competing in C grade target rifle, came third in the Syme and won range prizes at 600 yards with 48/6 and at 1000 yards with fine score of 45.

Josh rarely gets a chance to shoot at 1000 yards, which made this a particularly good score.

Phil Jonker, shooting in F class standard A grade, came second in the Queens and also at 600 yards with 59/4 and at 1000 yards with 54/3.

Phil had the same scores as the winner of both ranges, but was done on a count back both times.
