Runners bring a peaceful message to local students

PEACE TORCH: St Patrick's Primary School pupils Matilda Bedendo and Kate Chetcuti with the torch from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run.

A GROUP of runners circulating a message of peace around the world was cheered into St Patrick’s Primary School yesterday.

The pupils laid a path with their own messages of peace created for the occasion and welcomed six women from the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, who had resumed their journey in Albury that morning.

The six males of the group took their turn to run as the others stopped in Wangaratta.

The global relay has been going since 1987 and involved more than 100 countries.

Runner, Harita Davies, said the relay was founded by Sri Chinmoy and they continue to share the message of world peace and harmony, carrying a torch to symbolise their wish for a peaceful world.
