PAULINE and Bill Thomas had been planning for their daughter’s wedding next Saturday.
Their youngest daughter Madonna was due to be married on May 4 in Fiji – a small, intimate occasion that was all Pauline and Bill could talk about in the days leading up to their death.
But now family have to plan for Bill and Pauline’s funeral after their bodies were found in their home on the Great Alpine Road some time between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, allegedly murdered by their eldest son, Ian David Thomas.
Pauline’s twin brother Bernard Coonan told the Wangaratta Chronicle that his sister and Bill had visited him and his wife, Joan, at their Toowoomba home over Easter.
“All they could talk about was Madonna’s wedding,” Bernard said.
“They were so happy and excited that they were going to Fiji to share the special occasion with her.
“Joan and I joked about not being invited, but it was a small wedding for immediate family – Pauline was thrilled that she was going to see her youngest daughter walk down the aisle.”
