• Couple honored for cancer work

JOHN and Lorna Finn’s dedication to Cancer Council Victoria’s Wangaratta Volunteer Group was rewarded last week when they received 30-year service awards from the organisation.

The presentation was a highlight of the group’s 32nd annual general meeting in the cafeteria at Northeast Health Wangaratta.

Group leader Barbara Thomas said last year the group raised just over $10,000 from Daffodil Day, the Biggest Morning Tea and the Pink Ribbon breakfast as well as other fundraising efforts.

“Thank you to the Wangaratta community for their wonderful support in helping the group raise these much needed funds,” Ms Thomas said.

“All money raised has gone to cancer Council Victoria for research, education and cancer support programs.”

She offered a special thanks to the Finns for their ongoing support.

“Our congratulations go to John and Lorna Finn on receiving their 30 year service awards,” Ms Thomas said.

“John served as group leader for 22 of those years and was very ably supported by Lorna during that time.

“Both John and Lorna have made an enormous contribution to the group and we would like to thank them for all their hard work.”
