WHEN Middle Creek Road resident, Frank Ryan, saw flames heading up the hill towards his property, he was ready to flee.
“I’d just come in for a cuppa and saw the fire come up the hill,” he said.
“I said to the wife let’s get our stuff into the car and let’s go.”
The flames were raging above the tree line and moving quickly, but firefighters were also quickly on the scene and managed to stop the blaze about 15 metres before it reached the Ryans’ front door.
“It was pretty scary until the fire trucks started getting here,” Mr Ryan said.
He moved his cattle to higher ground, where they stayed out of the path of the fire.
