Mayor launches new plan, MP opens $72,000 park upgrade

A CELEBRATION: Oxley Residents Association president Bruce Ubergang (left), Rural City of Wangaratta mayor Cr Rozi Parisotto and state member Tim McCurdy (MLA, Murray Valley) puruse the Oxley Community Plan, making use of the shade sails which are part of the $72,000 upgrade of Oxley Memorial Park which was opened yesterday.

UPGRADES to Oxley Memorial Park opened yesterday, and the launch of the Oxley Community Plan, reflect a positive community, with a can-do attitude, according to Rural City of Wangaratta mayor Cr Rozi Parisotto.

Launching the plan at the park, in front of several hundred people, Cr Parisotto said council was keen to work with all rural communities, who each now had a plan in place.

“These plans have been driven by each community, identifying their priority projects, and we want to help pursue them,” she said.

Cr Parisotto praised all those who had played a role, and particularly congratulated the Oxley Residents Association for its passionate efforts.

Association president Bruce Ubergang said the $72,000 Oxley Memorial Park Redevelopment was actually the top priority of the plan, and it had been delivered through a successful partnership with State Government, council and the community.

Mr Ubergang said sealing of the Oxley Hall carpark is the next project on the agenda, with an application for council funding to go in shortly.
