NBN on its way to Oxley

Homes, businesses to access fixed wireless services

NBN ROLLOUT: This map from NBN Co shows the internet coverage that will be available around Oxley within 12 months.

THE National Broadband Network (NBN) will be available in Oxley within 12 months, after the company announced 300 homes and businesses in the town were next on the rollout list.

Oxley does not qualify for the fastest fixed line internet, but will get fixed wireless services that will improve broadband speeds with an outdoor antenna on the roof and NBN connection box inside.

Construction on a tower on Oxley-Meadow Creek Road is under way, with fences erected on the site, and will deliver the NBN across Oxley as well as north towards parts of Tarrawingee and south towards Docker.

Brown Brothers director and Oxley resident, John Brown, welcomed the news that Oxley internet service would be improved with the NBN.

“It certainly is patchy at the moment,” he said.

“Residents out there have real trouble.”

Mr Brown said Milawa may be one of the next towns to get the NBN, with Brown Brothers signing an agreement to have the tower on its land.

“The site is already being prepared,” he said.
